Mapping of burrows of the Common Hamster (Cricetus cricetus)

The common hamster (Cricetus cricetus) is a strictly protected species according to the Flora-Fauna-Habitat Directive (FFH). We offer common hamster mapping services. Based on our extensive experience in working with common hamsters, we conduct winter and summer burrow mapping. In addition to the standard method, we also conduct drone mapping. For the burrows found, GPS coordinates are recorded and documented with photographs. After the mapping we will send you a report of the survey including a map of the surveyed area with marked and numbered common hamster burrows as well as detailed information about the burrows found.

Mapping Training for the Common Hamster (Cricetus cricetus)

In the common hamster mapping workshop, we train your employees on the habitat requirements of the common hamster, its endangerment and protective measures. We teach the safe determination of common hamster burrows in a practical way on the basis of: burrow tube depth, burrow tube diameter as well as the differentiation from mice burrows, the differentiation of summer burrow and winter burrow, the determination of slip and drop tubes. In a sample mapping we measure burrows together, fill out a protocol and give hints for the preparation of expertises.
